Battle lines are drawn

Stockport County away, a trip to fourth in the league who have genuine hopes of automatic promotion. The 4-2 win earlier this season was a terrific performance but much has happened since. This is a tougher and leaner --and wetter --Argyle who are looking up and not down but there won't be many tougher tests than this.

Stockport County away, a trip to fourth in the league and one with genuine hopes of automatic promotion. My first game this season was that 4-2 win, a terrific performance on that early September afternoon. Much has happened since –lots of rain mainly – but some of that optimism that was swirling around Home Park has returned along with the never-ending precipitation.

Talking Points

This feels like the real quiz.

Argyle were impressive that day, even if they haven’t been that great much of the time since. While Tom Cleverley's men head north to Edgeley Park as 14th in League One, they are fifth in the form table --two places higher than Stockport --and had the Greens won, as they should have done, against Mansfield in midweek, they would be equal first with 14 points from the last six games. In short, the Devon club are looking up rather than down.
