Wycombe game a fitting end to dismal 2025

As games of football go, the 1-1 draw between Plymouth Argyle and Wycombe Wanderers on Monday –the last of 2025 –was pretty bad.

As a metaphor for the last 12 months, however, it was pretty much perfect.

That period between Christmas and New Year can be a bit confusing, especially when you get to the 29th of December. It was also hard to know what was going on at times during 104 minutes of 'football'.

About all that can be said with certainty at the end was that it could have been worse thanks to a 94th minute equaliser that was bundled home by Bim Pepple with the visitors claiming that it had not crossed the line.
