After two fine away wins in the past week, Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley wants to start cracking the Home Park code to keep climbing the table, starting against League One leaders Cardiff City on Saturday.
The lunchtime clash pits two of the division’s form teams together but while Argyle have been almost unstoppable on the road of late, this season the situation at home has been very different with just five wins and eight defeats.
“It’s a real burning ambition of all of ours to improve our home form,” Cleverley said Thursday. “If we do, we have shown enough resilience and quality on the road to show that that is sustainable now, eight wins in ten. If we can crack the code here against a tough Cardiff side, if we can get rolling then you never know.”
Last Saturday, the Greens won 4-0 at Blackpool and then went to London in midweek to defeat Leyton Orient 3-1. That has pushed Plymouth up into 12th, just six points shy of the playoff places with 14 games left to play. A third win in a row against Cardiff, four points clear at the top, would be a statement and then some.
