Plymouth Argyle boss Tom Cleverley believes that Lorent Talaj is still the main man despite his penalty miss in a 4-1 defeat against Reading FC on Boxing Day.

With the home team trailing 3-1, the League One leading scorer had a chance to reduce the arrears and also grab his 14th of the season since joining from Port Vale in the summer.

The Swiss striker’s tame effort was saved by Reading goalkeeper Joel Pereira and what could have been a tense closing 20 minutes for the visitors ended up as a walk in Home Park.

It was not quite the turning point it could have been said Cleverley but it was also, he insisted, not a failed attempt to replicate the perfect Panenka penalty that Tolaj scored against Wigan Athletic earlier in the season, a rare sight in League One.
