Better late than never

So the EFL finally reached a decision and it was the right one, it just came a lot later than it needed to. Plymouth Argyle will face Luton Town in the quarter final of the Vertu Cup and, in another piece of common sense, it won't be next week.

So it’s Luton Town and not next week. It's the right decision and better late than never.

On Wednesday, the EFL finally made the decision to kick Swindon Town out of the quarter-finals of the Vertu Cup meaning that Plymouth Argyle will face the Hatters instead.

In Swindon’s 2-1 win at Luton in the previous round on Jan. 13, the victors were charged by the  EFL for fielding two ineligible players. It seemed pretty cut and dried but as the quarter-final approached -- it was set to be next Tuesday -- there was no confirmed decision.

"An Independent Disciplinary Commission has determined that Swindon Town Football Club is to be removed from this season’s Vertu Trophy competition for breaches of EFL Regulations and EFL Trophy Rules,” the EFL said in a statement.
