E(xtreme) F(arcical) L(imbo) Trophy Turmoil

Just six days out from Argyle's Vertu Cup quarter-final, the Greens don't know if they are going to Swindon or Luton next week. The right decision is Luton but that's not really the point. All this should have been sorted out long before. It's unfair for Argyle, especially for the fans, and the club should complain as this is not good enough.

And so it came to pass that less than a week before the quarter-finals of the Vertu Cup, Plymouth Argyle did not know who they were going to play.

Would they be travelling to Swindon Town on February 10 or Luton Town, or doing something else? As someone who has covered football all over Asia and elsewhere over the years, it is hard to remember a situation like this.

It was expected that a decision would be made Monday, still extremely late, but that has not been the case.

Here’s what happened. In Swindon’s 2-1 win at Luton in the previous round on Jan. 13 (remember that date because it actually occurred three weeks ago), the victors were charged by the  EFL for fielding two ineligible players.
